Account of the examination of William Oldys, 1693.

An account of the examination in September 1693 of Dr. Oldys and five others by the Lords of Council, inquiring into the reasons for refusing to pronounce a group of sailors guilty of treason and piracy. Oldys was an advocate of the Admiralty and chancellor of the diocese of Lincoln. For his refusal to charge the sailors, who were acting against England under orders from exiled James II, Oldys was removed from his office in the Admiralty.
